My opinion of the decision in this legal case is that I ultimately agree with the verdict. My stance on the right to die is that it should involve the individuals administering care to the patient. In this case, Terri’s husband was her legal guardian. In a marriage there are many topics discussed, and I believe that Terri and her husband discussed what each wished if either one became ill. I believe Terri’s husband decision to have the tubes removed that delivered hydration and nutrition to his wife was because he knew that she would not have wanted to live her life in a persistent vegetative state. When reading the synopsis, I realized that it took almost 9 years to come to the ultimate decision on March 2005. From 1998- 2005, there was intervention to the tubes that delivered nutrition and hydration to Terri. In my opinion, it seemed very cruel for a case to have gone on so long. After performing an autopsy on June 2005, it was confirmed that Terri was indeed in a PVS. Senator Joe Liebermann position after being asked would he have left the tubes in; he answered that would have left them in. He also stated that removing Terri’s tubes was legally and morally questionable due to statements from her parents that she was not in PVS. I disagree with his position because a I mentioned before, decision over patient’s placed in long-term care facilities should only involve the individuals administering care to these patients. Ultimately those working with these types of patients know how to come to a decision together with the legal guardians that will give peace to all involved.Please give me a full explanation about ”Right to Die” with examples.
