EHRs are considered a digital version of patient records that enables information accuracy and accessibility and provides coordination between healthcare providers (Vos et al., 2020). Mobile health uses smartphones, tablets, and apps to monitor patient health, manage chronic diseases, and pass health education. It involves virtual consultations, remote monitoring, and telemedicine and expands healthcare access for those in underserved communities. Interoperability and integration, following an improvement in care quality, also greatly impact health information exchange (HIE). Also, HIE lets providers safely exchange patient information so that tests get duplicated or medical errors are made less often. The concept of interoperability enables smooth communication among various EHR systems and telehealth systems to maintain the continuity of care. Improved workflow efficiency and evidence-based decision-making can improve patient outcomes by increasing the integration of health IT systems (Zheng et al., 2020). In the sphere of my work as a nurse, I am using EHRs to document, administer medication, and review patient history. It is often used for virtual consultations, less for patient education, and is especially useful in forensic psychiatric settings where remote assessments improve accessibility. Mobile health applications are used to track patient vitals and medication adherence. The transmission of information is facilitated, workflows are streamlined, and support for evidence-based patient care is provided.
