Please answer all 4 questions using the information attached in the image of the case study, Thank you! 1) What eating disorder is Jackson struggling with? List at least 3 reasons why you chose this specific disorder. 2) If there are subtypes within the disorder you chose in #1, which one would you feel applies to Jackson’s situation? Would you need to gather further information to determine the subtype and what information would that include? 3) What medical concerns were mentioned in the vignette and what further medical and nutritional concerns would you have for Jackson moving forward? 4) What are your recommended next steps? Case: Jackson Jackson is an 11-year-old cisgender Caucasian male whose parents are concerned that his picky eating has turned into an eating disorder. He has had severe reflux and trouble gaining weight since he was an infant. During his toddler years, Jackson would eat only about five foods. However, he never outgrew his toddler pickiness. Food textures, smells, and colors continue to bother him intensely. At the same time, his anxieties around food have grown. He fears birthday parties because he doesn’t like pizza or cake and doesn’t want to be teased for not eating. Afler an episode of a GI virus several months ago, he’s become increasingly worried that something he eats will make him vomit. This has led to even more restrictive eating patterns. Jackson’s weight has always been around the 10 th percentile on the growth chart. At his most recent well-child visit, however, the pediatrician noted that Jackson has fallen off the growth curve and is now below the percentile lines altogether on weight. He has not gained weight or height since he was ten years old. He has more digestive symptoms now, saying he gets full quickly, is constipated, and feels nauseated after big meals, all of which make him feel anxious. Jackson doesn’t think he’s fat and wishes he could eat normally. He’s a good student and has always enjoyed soccer. With a range of symptoms and concerns, he and his parents present to the pediatrician’s office for a follow-up weight check and strategy session.
